Have you noticed that when the subject of the Holy Spirit comes up people often divide into theological camps? The Holy Spirit becomes likened to the relative that we all have who shows up every now and then to family gatherings. Everyone agrees that he or she is somewhat strange. The conversation generally goes something like this, How have you been doing? So glad that you are here, will you be staying long? Behind the polite questions, there is a nervous skepticism. Everyone breathes a silent sigh of relief when he or she finally leaves.

When Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit in the book of John, the spirit is referred to as He. We have often reduced the Spirit to an it. I would propose that we have a renewed conversation about Him the Christ who is living inside of us. He never intended to become a nebulous it, but rather a living vibrant, He.

I challenge you to ask the Holy Spirit to help you with your next decision…big or small. Ask the Holy Spirit to convict you of things that are distractions to your relationship with Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. Yes…begin tomorrow with a rousing, Good morning Holy Spirit.
