A CROWDED HEAVEN (Our Passion for 12 Years) Have you wondered lately what heaven will be like? I have! A few days ago, I was reading from one of my favorite bloggers and he mentioned a phrase that just stuck with me. Here is what he said: WE WANT HEAVEN TO BE MORE CROWDED BECAUSE WE EXISTED AS A CHURCH. Wow! When I read that I just though about all the people who are now a part of our church who would not have been there if God had not planted CCC in Ashburn, VA.. This prompted me to go back and read the book of Revelation. John was the apostle who had the vision of heaven. Here is what he wrote. “After these things, I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God….” (Revelation 7:9). The Bible teaches us that hell “hath enlargened her mouth” Satan is preparing for a crowded hell! Should not the church be even more passionate to ensure that heaven is filled to capacity? This year we paused again to celebrate our 12th Anniversary! For Sister Mitchell and me, the past twelve years have passed so quickly and have been filled with so many highs and lows. The thing that we have held on to for these 12 years is the fact that God called us to reach people and get them ready for heaven. This has been and continues to be our one passion. In every generation the church has had to find new wineskins or new methods but the message of salvation remains the same. “Ye must be born again…” is timeless but the church is challenged to communicate it in a contemporary way to a Post Judeo-Christian Culture that is pluralistic in its mindset. As we celebrate 12 years, I want to take a moment and thank the many members of our church (some have relocated to other places and some are in heaven) who have sacrificed everything because they believed that if the church is the only thing that Jesus died for, it is the only thing he left on the earth and it is the only thing that He is coming back for. If the Lord would delay His coming, I want to challenge you to help me in making the next twelve years our most productive. As the founding Pastors, Sister Mitchell and still have just one passion: This church must have just one passion! WE WANT HEAVEN TO BE MORE CROWDED BECAUSE WE EXISTED AS A CHURCH.
